Storms, snakes, and sisters

As most of you know, my life is crazy. Not just "oh that was odd crazy" more like, "someone get this girl a reality show crazy". Yesterday was of course, no exception.

At 8:30 I dropped Eli off at Kid's Fit Camp. A program my friend, Laura and her husband have put together. I ran to the bank and then went to WalMart to get my daily ShopKicks (pleeease, tell me you're using that app!). It's amazing.

Anyway, I had to pick up Eli and Caleb at 10:30 for swim team. Swim team only lasts an hour and I had already finished my errands so, I sat in my car and read. An hour of peace and quiet. That was nice..
It started to rain at the end of practice, and I felt a ping of guilt as I watched all the other mommas grab an umbrella and go pick up their kids.. I got over it quickly, though. Hey- they had already been swimming it's not like they were getting wetter. And I was dry.
Tough love people, it's real.

Anyway, we came home and I slaved over lunch... (Hotdogs)
And I had real intentions of cleaning this house and I promised Quinn a home cooked supper.
I need a reality show and at this point it's going to be Hoarders. 😳
But, while I was eating... I noticed something on the guide that said Adam Levine. So, I casually scanned over there. I think he was selling something. I won't know for sure for 7-10 business days, that's when my package should arrive. Four payments of $9.99 plus shipping and handling, is a small price to watch Adam for an hour. 😉 Calm down, Quinny... I'm only kidding. I didn't want to stop watching to go get my credit card. You're welcome.
So, the show went off (sad face). Cleaning time. Buuuut, my cell rang. And it was Quinn. He never calls while he's at work, so I figured I should answer. He tells me that they just had a pretty bad storm come through Jonesboro and Paragould and that it was headed my way.
How sweet! My night in shining armour was calling to warn me so that I could take cover. 😍
umm, no. He was actually calling to tell I need to try to move the trampoline so that it doesn't get blown to smithereens. Again. 😒
Blah.
I yelled at Eli to unplug the TVs, computer, and all that jazz.. While I soaked up my disappointment, mustered up some strength and grabbed my boots. I went outside and pushed/pulled/dragged the damn trampoline into a place I had deemed safe from the wind. I patted myself on the back, put my duck in the patio, (she doesn't need to be out in this chaos) Locked my dogs in the garage (where Mia would inevitably have stomach problems caused by her fear of storms), and open up the back door.
I had prepared my home, animals, and kid. We were going to ride this storm out.
Until....
I opened the back door and looked at the front door. And saw this:
(Insert heart attack here)

I snapped a picture because I have learned that people just don't believe ya without proof. Plus, I like to post stuff on Facebook.
I sent the picture to Quinn, Faye, mom, Hannah, and Magen. And tried to call Keith. (To come kill it). In typical Keith fashion, he didn't answer. So, I called momma.

Then, I posted it on Facebook with a plea for someone to come kill it.
Well hours passed. Or maybe 30 seconds. I didn't have a watch..
And Eli and I were still sitting there watching this snake try to come into the house..
There was a point where it looked at me like this.
I'm 99% sure that it was sizing me up. I KNOW it was thinking about eating Eli while I sat and cried.
I told Eli to watch the snake so that it didn't get away and I went and put on boots and pants. If I was going snake huntin' by golly- I was going to be dressed appropriately.
After I changed, I talked Eli into getting me something to kill it with from the garage. I would've gone myself but, I don't do a lot of manual labor outdoors and I wasn't sure where we kept the garden tools. And I also wasn't sure that I knew exactly what a snake killin' tool looked like.
When he came back (without a gun but with an appropriate device) (which shocked me to my core), I told him I was going to open the door and step on the snake's head and chop it up.
Keep in mind we are in the middle if hurricane strength wind and torrential downpour.
I waited for the snake to stick its head out enough and I went for it! I killed it pretty quickly which is good because Eli shut and locked the door behind me. He's a super nice kid. 😒
I did it! I killed the snake. Boom! Take that! Felicia Warrior Princess!
I talked Eli into opening the door and looked out back... And saw this:
The trampoline that I tried so valiantly to save. In a heap. In the cotton field.
Whatever. I didn't win the battle, but in my mind I won the war!

About this same time, my mom and one of my favorite photog's (Jason Bishop) pulled into my driveway. Mom brought a chain and Jason brought a club. They were going to save me and my trampoline;).
I'm so thankful they came, too. Bc we had to drag the trampoline all that way back. To the house and I wasn't doing it by myself! Thanks again, y'all!

Y'all go check out Jason at www.jasonbishopphotography.com

By this time, it was basically time for Quinn to get off work. The house was a wreck and the meal I promised him was NOT going to happen.

So, I sent Eli with to spend the night with mom and I had wine for supper and rewatched that Adam Levine special while Quinn went to band practice.
Here is my pic with my kill. Of course, Eli asked if we could get it mounted.

But, in all seriousness please keep those affected by the storm in your prayers. It got much worse than anyone expected and there are LOTS of people with uprooted trees and no electricity.
P

Since the daycare was out of power, Eli and I get to spend today with the Tucker Sisters and Nady!
I'm more excited about a day of make up, baby dolls, and Barbies than Eli.
He'd rather deal with the snake.
